Next month, the risk of random acts of terrorism is going up.
The leadership of ISIS has called for devout Muslims living in the U.S. and Europe to attack civilians during the coming Ramadan holiday. Ramadan begins at sunset on June 5th in the U.S. and will continue through July 5th.
In an audio message, an ISIS spokesman stated that “the tiniest action you do in the heart of their land is dearer to us than the biggest action by us … there are no innocents in the heart of the lands of the Crusaders.”
Large-scale terror attacks are what most people fear, but the truth is, you have a greater chance of becoming a victim of a small scale attack perpetrated by just a single attacker or a small group of attackers.
In this case, we’re looking at people who live here, who know the culture and know their way around. It wouldn’t surprise me if we saw something similar to the recent attack in San Bernardino or something similar to the Washington D.C. sniper attacks in 2002.
Be extra careful and extra alert whenever you leave your home. Make sure you have a good bug-out bag in your car because those supplies can come in very handy when dealing with a small-scale emergency. Watch the people around you and take note of suspicious behavior. And be ready to react if this go sideways in your vicinity. A prepared mindset can make all the difference.
